Correction

OK, in my last post I said that we were lucky, and I feel the need to clarify. We are blessed and we are lucky. We are blessed to have two AWESOME kids. We are lucky because God has given us resources and wisdom in raising those kids. I am making this clarification for one reason. It really annoys Beth and I when people say things like '"you're lucky you have kids that mind you." or we had a someone tell us once, "you just got good kids, mine don't listen like that." And some one else told me, "Your kids came out great, mine came out hellions."
Well, Beth nad I worked hard to get our kids to listen, they didn't come out listening to us and minding us. They came out little sinners just like every other child in this world. They came out thinking about themselves, just like every other kids. We worked hard to get them they way they are now, it wasn't random, it wasn't the luck of the draw so to speak. We walked out of restaurants when they were screaming, not because we were embarassed, but because we wanted to teach them that they weren't the center of the universe. We started teaching them this before they could walk or talk.
I'll be the first to say, we have messed up, many times. I'll also say that our kids are not perfect. there was only one of those. But I want to make it clear that, with the Lord's help, and the help of many friends and family members, and with alot of prayers, and alot of hard consequences, and alot of praise.....we've got some pretty great kids...
Now, for our other pet peeve......don't tell us "wait til they are teenagers, then you'll see" , or "when they turn 15 you'll really have to work then." I refuse to believe that. there will be expanding of the boundaries, and Chance and Reagan will try to spread their wings, and they will do some stupid stuff, and you know what - I will do some stupid stuff too. But, I am not regretting their teen years, I can't wait! I'm excited about it! I am thankful for every day the Lord gives me with them, and I want to take advantage of every minute. Ten years from now Reagan will be 19 and Chance 22 - and they will have their own lives, so I refuse to waste their teen years because everyone tells us that it is going to be terrible.
WOW! That was some clarification wasn't it? I doubt anyone reads this anyway, but if anyone does, now you know what I mean when I say we are blessed and lucky.

It could be spring

We are all doing well. Reagan has started something new, lacross. None of us know anything about it, so we are all learning something. She loves to run, and this has alot of running involved. Chance is wrapping up his basketball season. His team full of homeschool boys plays in the homeschool "national tournament" next week. He's had alot of fun, and learned alot. He doesn't get to play a whole lot, but he's a year younger than everyone on his team, so next year when they play on the 8th grade team, he'll stay put and be on this team again. He's made alot of friends, and to him that is the best part.
I got to do some work outside this weekend and, while strenuous, it was good. I cut down a tree and cut it up into firewood. Chance was a great help - he's taking on more responsability all the time. I am very proud of him. Reagan had a pretty nasty bike wreck, her right knee is all jacked up. But, she was a trooper and didn't whale that much. She sucked it up and went to lacross practice anyway. She might end up with a nice little scar.
Beth and I are well - essentially basking in our exceptional parenting...........yea....right. We are so blessed that we have great kids, despite our errors (ok mostly my errors). We are very lucky folks.
